Staff Honored – 2021 WSDOT Wall of Fame

George Gorman – Transit Operator

George Gorman joined the RiverCities Transit team in March 2019 and demonstrates precisely that – how to be a great teammate.

One of George’s fellow operators noted, “He always goes above and beyond and is always willing to lend a helping hand. George is very friendly, and his passengers love him.” We couldn’t agree more.

George always has a smile on his face and continually looks to provide excellent service, whether assisting a customer or picking up an open shift for a dispatcher.

His supervisor notes George’s accident-free and complaint-free record as a great example of his dedication to doing his job well.

RiverCities Transit takes great pleasure in honoring George Gorman for his excellent performance and his exemplary service to our community.

Amy Asher – Former Transit Manager

Amy Asher joined RiverCities Transit as a Supervisor in 2014, became Transit Manager in 2015, and remained in this role until becoming the General Manager of Mason Transit in July of this year.

Amy is a model leader, whether dealing with challenging employment situations, writing successful grants, or building our new transit center.

Amy sets high expectations for her team and leads by example with her vision, integrity, positive attitude, and compassion for employees and customers.

Amid the COVID-19 crisis, she relentlessly secured masks and sanitizer, ensured barriers were installed on all buses and vans, and perhaps most impressively, kept all of her employees working during the shutdown without any loss of hours or benefits.

Our loss is truly Mason Transit’s gain. We wish her and her new team the very best.

RiverCities Transit takes pride in honoring Amy for her seven years of outstanding leadership.

2021 – 2026 Transit Development Plan and 2020 Annual Report

Click Here to view the draft 2021 – 2026 Transit Development Plan and 2020 Annual Report

The Transit Development Plan (TDP) is drafted by RiverCities Staff and approved by the Cowlitz Transit Authority annually. It serves to fulfill both RCW’s 35.58.2795 and 35.58.2796 which requires the creation of a Public Transportation System Six-Year Transit Plan and Annual Report, respectively.

The Washington State Department of Transportation is required to develop an annual report that summarizes the status of public transportation systems in the state for the previous calendar year. RiverCities Transit is required to submit this annual report to assist in the development of that statewide plan. The report also serves as a tool to communicate our past accomplishments and future goals for our transit system to the community.  It outlines our organizational structure, transportation services, major accomplishments, and proposed future action strategies and a program for funding those strategies.

RiverCities Transit Returns Service

Starting Monday, March 1, 2021, RiverCities Transit fixed route buses will return to regular service hours Monday – Friday from 6:30 am – 7:00 pm, and Saturday 8:00 am – 6:00 pm. The agency has incrementally returned its fixed route service that was reduced last December due to a significant staffing shortage. Routes 30 and 44 restarted on February 8, 2021.  Passengers whose essential trips were impacted by the service reduction were offered transportation on RiverCities LIFT as an alternative.  LIFT provided over 160 trips between December 30, 2020 and February 19, 2021 to those passengers.

Follow the RiverCities Transit Facebook page for the most recent updates and service alerts, or contact Customer Service at 360-442-5663 or [email protected]. Route schedules, maps, and fare information are available on the RiverCities website

RiverCities Transit is committed to safely providing transit service to our community members by following federal and state guidelines for capacity constraints, encouraging social distancing, and making masks available on the buses and at our Downtown Transit Center.

RiverCities Transit Temporary Service Reduction

Starting Monday, December 28, RiverCities Transit will implement service reductions due to a staffing shortage. RCT will run the Saturday schedule with additional service on Route 45 Monday – Friday until further notice. RiverCities LIFT paratransit service will continue to be available Monday – Saturday. Those unable to access essential services and jobs due to these reductions are encouraged to contact RCT at 360-442-5663 or [email protected].
