RCT Staff recognized by WS DOT Wall of Fame

RiverCities Dispatch and Customer Service Staff were nominated for the Washington State Department of Transportation Wall of Fame. The Wall of Fame (WOF) recognizes exemplary employees for their dedication, innovation, customer service, and professionalism. Each of these employees played an integral part in making sure our Transit Center move (TWICE) was smooth and painless for both staff and the public. It was a miracle with such a small team, but it happened because they pulled together to make sure that nothing fell through the cracks. Moreover, they did it all while keeping up on their regular workload! THANK YOU! Tabitha Hayden, Jim Seeks, Amy Waters, Michael Richards, Doreen Daggett, Elizabeth Halili, and Ben Quam (not shown).

RiverCities Transit Bus Fares Reinstated August 3

Beginning August 3, 2020, fare collection on RiverCities Transit and RiverCities LIFT will resume, and regular Monday-Saturday service returns for the first time since March 30. Customers will have an opportunity to purchase passes at the Transit Center and Kelso City Hall starting July 27. Ridership has begun to increase since the initial government shutdown in late March. Reinstating regular service will allow passengers to spread out their essential trips during the less busy travel times between 6:30 – 9 AM and from 4 PM – 6:30 PM.

Front door boarding will also resume in August, and riders are encouraged to exit the rear door of the bus. Plexiglass doors were installed to protect operators and passengers at the front door where fares are collected. Additionally, vehicle loads have been reduced to allow no more than ten passengers on the bus to encourage social distancing while riding. Face coverings are required by state mandate with some exceptions.

The Transit Center lobby will re-open on July 27 at 8 AM. Up to five customers will be allowed into the lobby to access the Customer Service counter at a time, but lobby seating, and the restrooms will not be available until further notice. RiverCities Transit remains committed to the health and safety of the community it serves while continuing to provide an essential service. Follow the RiverCities Transit Facebook page for the most recent updates and service alerts, or contact Customer Service at 360-442-5663 or [email protected]. Route schedules, maps, and fare information are available on the RiverCities website www.rctransit.org.

4:00 p.m. – Regular Board Meeting

In response to COVID-19 and public health concerns, and in concert with Governor Inslee’s emergency proclamation, the meetings of the Cowlitz Transit Authority Board may be attended as ZOOM virtual online webinars.

Washington Statewide Mask Mandate

RiverCities Transit trust that all riders will comply with the Governor’s order to the extent they can, acknowledging that wearing a face-covering poses unique challenges for some. RiverCities operators will not prevent passengers without face coverings from boarding. It is not always apparent who has an exemption, so riders should avoid the temptation to police other passengers who are not wearing a mask.
